Pneumococcal disease is a disease caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae or pneumococcus. Generally, this bacterium causes various diseases ranging from serious diseases such as septicaemia, meningitis, and pneumonia to milder infections such as otitis media and sinusitis.
